Mint condition, AAAVN HAT BADGE. Hat badge of the Australian Army Aviation Corps. Nickel plated badge with two pin clips.
The Australian Army Aviation (AAAvn) Corps is a key element in providing the Army with its mobility and dedicated reconnaissance.
Australian Army aviation has traditional links with the Australian Flying Corps (AFC), Royal Regiment of Australian Artillery, and the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). From the formation of modern Army aviation in the late 1950s and early 1960s aircrew were drawn from arms and services across the Army, supplemented by the RAAF in key positions. Throughout the sixties Army personnel gradually replaced the Air Force members until all operational positions were filled by Army. In 1968, the Australian Army Aviation Corps was formed which provided a coherent career path for aircrew and, eventually, ground support personnel who sought a career in Army aviation.
AAAvn operates various types of aircraft including the Sikorsky S70A-9 Black Hawk, Boeing CH-47D Chinook, Bell 206B-1 Kiowa, ARH Tiger, MRH90 Troop Lift Helicopter, and civil helicopter training aircraft.

Within the Australian Army Aviation Corps the following is the accepted order of precedence:
• 1st Aviation Regiment
• 5th Aviation Regiment
• 6th Aviation Regiment
Each of the Aviation Regiments are currently attached to 16th Aviation Brigade.
